Fully-Accredited Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Integrative Clinical Supervisor, working full-time for over 18 years in private practice.
John’s approach is holistic, person-centred and integrative and he works from a cognitive (CBT) and motivational psychological perspective. He has a special interest in sitting with people to facilitate personal growth and he meets with them from a place of compassion and non-judgment.
Prior to becoming a professional counsellor and psychotherapist, John enjoyed a successful career in the media industry. His interest in the area of mental health evolved over a five year period in which he volunteered with The Samaritans, 1995 – 2000. He established Booterstown Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2002. In full-time private practice for 18 years, he works with individuals and couples and families and he also provides consultancy and training services to educational and business clients.
He receives referrals from the medical profession, other mental health professionals and support agencies. He has advised and assisted social agencies in establishing anger management programmes. He also offers since 2007 his many years of practical experience, in a supervisory capacity, to both established and trainee mental health practitioners.
