Gambling Problem

Gambling Addiction

Compulsive gambling, also called gambling disorder, is an uncontrollable urge to keep gambling despite the toll it takes on your life. Gambling means that you are willing to risk something you value in the hope of getting something even of greater value. Gambling can stimulate the brain’s reward system, much like drugs or alcohol can, leading to addiction.

How to identify if you have a gambling problem

  • Did you ever lose time from work or school due to gambling?

  • Do you ever feel guilty or have regrets about your gambling?

  • Do you ever gamble until your last Euro is gone?

  • Do you ever borrow money to finance your gambling?

  • Do you ever gamble longer than you planned?

  • Do you borrow money from friends or money lenders to finance your gambling?

  • Have you ever committed, or considered committing, an illegal act to finance gambling?
